2017/2018 Student School Start Times

This past Spring our School Board approved a change in the UCF school start times. Research shows there are many benefits from later school start times, including decreases in teen depression, car crashes, behavior problems, discipline referrals, absenteeism, and tardiness.

The UCF new school start times are as follows:

Elementary  - 9:10 AM - 3:40 PM

High School/Middle School - 8:00 AM - 2:43 PM

A list of all schedule changes and FAQs are available on
The School Start Time website.

Attention 5th Grade Parents and Students - Patton Middle School Required Summer Reading 2017

Summer Readiang Logo

“Students’ relationship with reading during the summer is a pretty good window into what the relationship will be once they leave our classrooms for good. We have an opportunity with summer reading to open that window to individual passions and interests and at the same time prevent the loss of achievement that months without practice bring.”
Penny Kittle, Book Love

Each incoming 6th grade student is expected to read a minimum of 3 books this summer. Our expectation is that incoming 6th graders will make mature choices regarding grade appropriate material. Although students are invited to read any three books of their choosing, we recognize that having some recommendations from school may serve helpful. In that regard, we have included:

(1) Recommended Author List for Each Grade
(2) “The Summer Reading List that Speaks to the Middle School Experience”
(3) The 2017-18 Chester County Reading Olympics Middle School Booklist

Parents are asked to sign off on their child’s summer reading. These resources, lists and the sign-off form can be found on The Patton Middle School Library webpage
